Te Awamutu is also known as Rose Town and is famous as the birthplace of Kiwi musicians Tim and Neil Fin of Split Enz and Crowded House fame. The town lies in the heart of Waikato's farming district, close to sporting facilities, golf courses and a rugby sports centre. Other day trips to most parts of the Waikato include Waitomo Caves, Raglan, Kawhia and Yardley bush walk, Lake Ngaroto, Mt Pirongia, Mt Kakepuku.
